2020 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz

St Henri is rich and plush when young, gaining soft, earthy, mocha-like characters as it ages. Matured in old, 1,460 litre vats allowing the wine to develop, imparting minimal, if any oak character. St Henri immediately invokes interest with scents of fruit propelled from the glass. A subliminal waft of star anise and savoury spices (not sweet) hover above. St Henri demands attention on the palate. It is elegant and well-structured with great length and fruit complexity. Red and dark-fruited, a compote of fresh prune and quince.
